SAP Oil & Gas customers are one of the most important customer groups in the SAP Customer Ecosystem today. SSP recognizes the strategic importance of these customers and places a high value on their long term sustainability and return on their SAP investment. Due to the industry specific nature of the SAP PRA (Production Revenue Accounting) application and extensive functionality, it is often difficult to retain staff within the company with the expertise to address support issues across the various disciplines. The options companies typically explore are:

  1. Try to hire staff with the experience in SAP PRA to provide support services; or
  2. Hire contractors at market rates when needed

Neither of these alternatives is particularly attractive – the first approach often results in poor service since few people today have skills in these areas that can provide high quality skills as well as knowledge of your specific business processes. The second approach is costly, if you can find qualified resources when you need them at all. Contract resources are not reliable and knowledge is lost when they leave the company. In addition, contract resources are too expensive and difficult to find so this is not a viable long term alternative for an on-going stable support function.

SSP’s business philosophy is to enable clients to take on the SAP support function on their own as they complete the SAP implementation. The ideal scenario is for new or existing personnel with fundamental analyst skills to be trained to become more proficient in the support of SAP PRA. While there are times that an issue may arise that requires assistance from our Support Service Center, we believe that it is a better strategy for our clients to gain the tools and expertise required to support SAP PRA applications. This not only reduces the support costs through less reliance on outside contractors but it also allows our clients to retain the knowledge in-house.

We are extremely excited to introduce the first training program in a series of on-going training programs that we will be providing to our clients. The SAP PRA in a Support Role Program is intended to enable support personnel at our clients to gain access to tools and expertise that will help them perform in an SAP PRA support role. All of our programs are built on the same foundation and curriculum of our very successful internal Consulting Professional Development (CPD) Program. Thus, the reason why we are launching this offering to provide you access to the same first class curriculum and training program.

We look forward to seeing you at many of our upcoming SAP Training Programs.

What you can expect

SAP PRA in a Support Role will provide you with an in-depth look into the SAP PRA Application through the use of case studies, lectures and practical examples on the use of the SAP PRA applications to improve your functional and technical skills. An in-depth look at how the application is designed and used in a business context will allow you to gain a better understanding on how to solve issues and address situations you may face every day. Participants are required to engage and participate as we believe the class benefits from the wide range experiences and practices in the classroom. Our instructors use the same rigor, challenging setting, and teaching practices that have been so successful in our internal CPD Program. Therefore, the program is intense and requires full dedication from participants to be able to benefit from the program objectives. Participants are expected to be away from day to day distractions and focus on class discussion and case preparation. The rigorous nature of the program creates a dynamic learning experience filled with real cases and scenarios that provide a framework for class discussion and hands-on learning.

How is the program curriculum delivered?

Case studies and end to end scenarios are used throughout the program to facilitate the learning experience. At SSP, we use the end to end scenario and business case approach to training. We believe that providing participants with real life scenarios and case studies is the best way for them to learn. Therefore, classes are structured with a combination of lecture followed with real cases for the participants to put concepts into practice. In a business case scenario participants learn things such as “its third workday, you’ve completed volume allocations, what’s next, what can we do to validate what’s been done, or “based on the closing process, what needs to be done; if you get errors, what do you do?”

Classes are held at the SSP Offices located in the Las Colinas business district in Irving, Texas.

Who is right for the Program?

The Program is designed for personnel engaged in a Support Role. Business analysts and support personnel that work in the direct support of the SAP PRA module are best suited for the training. This program is not intended for accountants and/or personnel engaged in regular accounting close activities or accounting roles.

Our Faculty

Our faculty is composed of highly trained consultants from our intensive seven week Consulting Professional Development program with hands-on project implementation and support experience. Through consulting and teaching, they leverage their business expertise and practical experience to share their problem solving and application skills with our clients. The result is a team of instructors that exposes participants to multiple perspectives, challenging their thinking and encouraging learning that results in superior performance.

Because the program is focused on SAP PRA support activities, we look for candidates who are directly involved in the resolution of SAP PRA support issues and are part of a support organization.
